The promotion for this show was mainly done on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. On the day of the show I got a call at 8 in the morning from an MTV rep saying that they have selected me for the meet and greet with Slash since they found me to be a really dedicated and diehard fan of Slash. Everything changed after that. There I met the remaining nine contest winners. It was an instant connect and we spoke like we knew each other for really long.

By around noon we were taken backstage and got to see the complete minute sound check. When he finally came out we all just went blank. While saying bye I ended up saying Thanks for Being Slash. Which really felt weird later. By the time we got out the lines had really got real long and were stretched all along the road around Jio Gardens.
Gates finally opened at around 5 and everyone stormed in rushing for the fence in front of the stage. While Gingerfeet got a good response, Them Clones was a bit quiet.
Thermal and a Quarter did a brilliant set and got the crowd going. By this time the venue was fully packed and the pushing was getting violent as we almost fell three times due to the pushing. By the time Slash was on stage it was uncontrollable as it became impossible to stand. Then, fuck it, he changes his mind: The guitar is a release for me. Slash in Bordeaux, Image: And then something happened that made me think about Slash differently. Staff at offices in Hamilton, Scotland, and London were called to a floor meeting and told to gather their stuff and leave, their services were no longer required.
At the Hamilton office, the administrators were literally changing the locks on the doors as staff left.
Two days later, I was at home, shell-shocked. I had no clue what to do next. He followed it up, too. A month or so later, with Classic Rock up and running again — bought by Future publishing, our previous home — he dropped me an email: It was really sad. Our photographer Ross Halfin did the first ever magazine shoot of the band.
Then there was the aftermath: Classic Rock was there when Velvet Revolver formed and when they split. We followed the story tenaciously, passionately. Sometimes, maybe we went too far.
They were the band that went too far — and it was infectious.Guns N' Roses - Meeting with Axl Rose and Slash in Bologna
Yeah, just a bit. We talked and managed to alleviate some of this negativity that had been brewing. It was sort of perpetuated through the media and stuff, and it just became a running thing — the biggest rivalry or whatever. So it was really nice to talk. But his appetite for destruction was matched only by his work ethic.
But take a look at his work rate and it tells a different story: Where other people would have given up on the solo career, as soon as Guns had a break — between January and June this year — Slash and his co-conspirators Myles, Todd Kerns, Brent Fitz and Frank Sidoris in on the recording of an album for the first time got back together and started revisiting those earlier ideas.
When the band reconvened, on the very first session they wrote a brand-new song straight off the bat. No board meetings, no bullshit, just the kind of ballsy anthems that will keep arenas across the world bouncing for the next few months. Does anyone ever tell you that?
